A Hollywood Movie in the Making in San Francisco

It’s week three of the NFL season and the San Francisco 49ers it seems that team are playing out a classic Hollywood Drama of heartbreak, betrayal, and redemption.

The team’s starting Quarterback, future of the Franchise is side-lined for the season, the back-up Quarterback, the forgotten and abandoned figure is now asked to rescue the team’s season.

The writing was on the cards as soon as the 49ers decided to make the move to keep Jimmy Garoppolo as the backup starting Quarterback, something epic like this was going to happen.

The immediate reaction on Sunday to Lance’s injury and the return to Garoppolo, was compelling to see from this side of the pond. Naturally, the emotions of seeing young Quarterback get injured, hurt all of us, fans, ex-players, coaches, and you can see the emotion in the players.

The fanbase, was angry, sadly, the NFL is a brutal game, and injuries do happen, I do not think there is much mileage of trying to blame anyone for what happened. Trey Lance was showing huge promise, maturity and naturally there was room for development and improvement. Lance’s time to shine and becoming the figure head of the team has been moved back 12 months but will happen over the next few years.

Regarding the season, for Lance, I think it will be great from him to look at the team from different perspectives. I think he should go upstairs and watch a game from the coaches’ eye from the booth, maybe watch a game alongside John Lynch and a get an understanding of how defences read the game, use the time to seem how defences prepare for the season. Yes, it is frustrating for all of us, but the next 15 games or so, Lance can develop other key skills that will make him a better player in the years ahead.

The Return of Jimmy

Listening to Steve Young on KNBR this week, he gave some amazing nuggets on how this season could play out. He drew the analogy of a couple getting back together and trying to work out their differences.

Garoppolo, himself, seems a changed person, in his press conference this week, he was funny, candid and I think he openly communicated his thoughts that the Coach needs to have a bit more faith in him and let him throw the ball.

Shanahan, himself then went on KNBR on Friday, and in his own way, said the team will play to its strengths. Reading behind what he said, in my opinion he understands, that with Kittle back, Deebo, Aiyuk, Jennings and Gray, maybe for the next few weeks, the team will throw the ball and use play action more.

This may be defined as the final instalment of the Trilogy, 2017, the New Hope, 2020 and 2021, the close encounters with Lombardi and just maybe 2022 the Return of the Rings to the Bay?

As Fan, I am excited to see how this drama all plays out – Let’s Go Niners
